Can Planner
Pick your project. See the can fill.
Choose what you’re working on and we’ll suggest a roll-off size, drawn to scale next to a 6-foot person. Debris can’t ride above the top rail, so if the load spills over the red line you need a bigger can or a swap.

QC Services ↗How a rental runs
From the call to the scale house
Most delays come from a can that’s too small, a blocked drop spot, or a missing street permit. Here’s the order that avoids them.
Call or book
Tell us the job, the address and the day you need it.
Pick the can
We match the size to your debris type and weight.
Clear the drop
Leave room for the truck. Street placement may need a permit.
Load it
Keep debris below the top rail and leave out prohibited items.
Swap or pick up
Call when it’s full. We swap in an empty or haul it off.
Scale & ticket
The load is weighed at the facility and diversion is recorded.

Permits and what goes in the can
Putting a can on the street needs a city permit
If the dumpster sits on a street or sidewalk instead of your driveway or lot, the City of New Orleans requires a Construction Zone / Dumpster permit from the Department of Public Works.
- 20 ftMinimum distance from an intersection
- 15 ftMinimum distance from a fire hydrant
- $40Application fee, plus $10 per dumpster per day

What can go in a roll-off
Construction and demolition debris is what these cans are built for. Some items need special handling and can’t ride with a regular load.
Usually fine
- Drywall & lumber
- Concrete, brick & block
- Roofing shingles
- Flooring & cabinets
- Metal & siding
- Yard debris
Keep out
- Paint, solvents & liquids
- Tires & batteries

- Medical or hazardous waste
*Suspect asbestos must be tested and removed by a licensed abatement crew before demolition. Our sister company QC Services does that work.

Straight answers
Questions before the drop
What size dumpster do I need?
It depends on the volume and weight of your debris. A bathroom gut usually fits a small can, while a commercial strip-out may need a 30 or 40 yard. Use the Can Planner above for a starting point, then our dispatcher will confirm.
Where does QC Transport deliver?
Central and South Louisiana, including the New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette metro areas. Our yards are in Chalmette and Lafayette.
Do I need a permit for a dumpster?
On your own driveway or lot, usually not. On a public street or sidewalk in New Orleans, yes: the city's Department of Public Works issues a Construction Zone / Dumpster permit. Other parishes have their own rules.
What can't go in the dumpster?
Liquids and paint, tires, batteries, appliances with refrigerant, asbestos and other hazardous waste. If you're not sure about something, ask before you load it.
Can you provide recycling or LEED paperwork?
Yes. We can document where your waste was taken so you can show diversion on LEED and other green building projects.
Who handles demolition?
Our sister company, QC Services, handles demolition, asbestos and lead abatement, and environmental cleanup. We haul the debris.
